Time to go back to a “Galaxy Far, Far Away…”

Kylo Ren!

Since Star Tours received its “Adventure Continues” refurbishment in the early 2010s, the iconic Star Wars-based attraction has seen many scenes added to its repertoire of interchangeable adventures as new Star Wars projects have been released. Now, after several weeks where every ride featured the latest batch of new scenes, we heard the attraction was returning to its unpredictable glory, and knew we had to find out for ourselves.

The latest additions to Star Tours – The Adventure Continues debuted in April in Disney World and featured characters from the three of the most successful Star Wars shows on Disney+: Ashoka, Andor, and The Mandalorian. The new scenes also came to Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland as well.

Star Tours

According to Disney, these latest additions were made up of “urgent transmissions” from Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor, Din Djarin (played by their respective actors Rosario Dawson, Diego Luna, and Pedro Pascal respectively) and Grogu (played by himself of course) as well as a visit to the planet Seatos from Ashoka.

As has been the case for several of the most recent additions, the new scenes were “locked” into the ride’s narrative for a couple of months. However, as of June 17th, we can confirm that Star Tours is back to being a fully randomized experience, with the new Disney+ scenes integrated into the randomization sequence, and that – – in the words of a cast member – – “everything is unlocked.”

All eyes on you

Described by Disney as an “unpredictable flight that rockets you to the farthest reaches of the galaxy”, Star Tours – The Adventure Continues first debuted at Hollywood Studios and Disneyland in 2011, later coming to Tokyo Disneyland in 2013 and Disneyland Paris in 2017. The attraction is a retheme and refurbishment of the original Star Tours, which had first opened in Disneyland in 1987, Tokyo Disneyland and Hollywood Studios both 1989, and as an opening day attraction at Disneyland Paris in 1992.

Come again

After a couple of months “locked” into using the latest scenes added to the ride, Star Tours – The Adventure Continues has returned to its randomized glory at Walt Disney World… at least until the next Star Wars projects are added. Stay tuned to DFB for further Walt Disney World news.
