Tampa's Feel Good Favorites

I travel A LOT, and I’m always looking for ways to save a bit of money — so that I can fund more travel!

I use Costco Travel to rent cars at the cheapest rates, I house sit and pet sit in exchange for lodging sometimes, and of course, I shop for bargains on items I might need in my travels. Now since I work here at DFB, I obviously spend a whole lot of time in Florida — and that means I use a whole lot of sunscreen! I recommend getting your sunscreen at discount retailers like TJ Maxx and Marshall’s — which is where I usually find my favorite brand, Coola.

I love Coola sunscreen because it feels hydrating — more like a lotion than the gluey feeling of some sunscreens — and it comes in delicious scents. It’s also vegan and organic. Yes, it’s bougie — which is why I like to buy it at the discount stores where I can usually find it for 50-70% off regular retail.

But what does all of this have to do with trips to NINE Dollar Trees? OK, OK, I’m getting to that! So, I was recently in Savannah, Georgia, and I went into a Dollar Tree there for a bar of soap. And I spotted some sunscreen. $1.25 for sunscreen? Could it possibly be good? I didn’t buy it, and BOY do I wish right now I would have.

Because as I drove to Orlando the next day, I started thinking, Hey! I should test that in Disney World and talk about it on DFB. No problem, right? I’ll just run to the Dollar Tree nearest where I stay in Orlando and grab some. I did just that — but the shelf was empty. There are tons of Dollar Trees, though, right? So, I went to another — also sold out. And another…

Dollar Tree

And that brings us to now. All in all, I have visited NINE Dollar Trees in Orlando in a week — and all of them are sold out of this sunscreen. I talked to employees in a couple of stores who said that it sells out very quickly anytime it comes in. So, I have no test to report on right now, but I’ll keep trying!

Was this a waste of time? Nope. In fact, now that I know how quickly this sunscreen sells out, I’m convinced it must be pretty good. And if it can save you (and me!) some money, I’ll be glad to find it and give you my full review. Keep following DFB, and I’ll keep bringing you more money-saving travel hacks!
