McDonald’s NEW ice cream is getting rave reviews.
McDonald’s has a LONG history of ice cream treats, including the requisite cones, sundaes and shakes, as well many, many McFlurry variants. In that tradition, the chain recently launched a new vegan ice cream option for those who don’t or can’t eat dairy. However, there’s just one catch: If you live in the U.S., for now you’ll have to cross the Atlantic to try it.
At their U.K. locations, McDonald’s has introduced two new vegan ice cream options: Choco Scoop and Strawberry Scoop.
The two new ice creams are offered in containers as opposed to soft serve – – certainly a relief to anyone who’s ever dealt with the seemingly inevitable issue of a broken McDonald’s ice cream machine – – and have been getting some rave reviews on Reddit since they were introduced. In particular, many users specifically praised the chocolate flavor, with one writing that it tasted like “a cold chocolate mousse but was very tasty.”
As of now, the test run for the two vegan ice cream flavors is scheduled to run through September 3rd. Currently, theres no announced plan to test Choco Scoop or Strawberry Scoop in the chain’s United States locations. However, given their seeming success in the U.K., we would think it’s only a matter of time before they make it over to McDonald’s land of origin.
Vegan ice cream isn’t the only plant-based item McDonald’s is currently testing. The chain is currently offering the McPlant – – a “a juicy burger made with a plant-based patty, co-developed with Beyond Meat” at a limited number of locations in Texas and California.
