Crews have been replacing the shingles of the Stave Church Gallery in the Norway Pavilion of EPCOT. The refurbishment project began in March and about half of the shingles on the first roof were replaced a week ago.
Stave Church Gallery Refurbishment
The new shingles on the lowest roof are much brighter than the dirtier shingles above.
The shingles are gray while the sheathing beneath is light brown. The sheathing will be painted once all the new shingles have been placed.
New shingles have been installed on the left side of this entrance. A few more rows of shingles still need to be installed on the gable. The shingles at the corners have to be cut to fit.
There are new planks on the hips of the roof, covering the cut shingles. These have been painted gray to match the shingles.
The new corner planks are thicker than the old ones that remain on the higher roofs.
The shingles and planks on the higher roofs may be replaced later.
The shingles on the south side of the building have not been replaced yet.
