Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain may soon be converted back to Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris, according to long-standing internet rumors. Now, the first physical signs of this project can be seen within the park.

Hyperspace Mountain Reportedly Being Converted Back to Space Mountain

Rumors suggest that Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain at Disneyland Paris will be converted back to Space Mountain in celebration of the attraction’s 30th anniversary in 2025. Unlike Disneyland Park in the U.S., where Space Mountain has been given a temporary Hyperspace Mountain overlay in honor of the “Star Wars” Season of the Force, the Disneyland Paris version was permanently converted to Hyperspace Mountain in 2017.

A useful area for future refurbishment projects!

Photos from X user DLPWorks reveal construction walls up around the future maintenance bay area at the Hyperspace Mountain building. This lends credence to the rumors that the Discoveryland attraction will undergo a major refurbishment. The creation of this new maintenance area was first noted by Disneyland Paris in November 2023. On May 29, 2024, the attraction was listed as closed on the Disneyland Paris website and it will be through the end of the month to accommodate this project. It is unknown when the attraction would close for the major renovation project, nor how long that closure will last.

History of Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris

The original Disneyland Paris Space Mountain, Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune opened on June 1, 1995, three years after the opening of the park. The attraction was inspired by (and named after) the Jules Verne novel, “From the Earth to the Moon,” as can be seen from the exterior of the building.

Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune closed in January of 2005, reopening in April of that year as Space Mountain: Mission 2. This version of the attraction was themed as a second mission, taking riders beyond the moon they traveled to in the first iteration. It was retired in 2017 during a major rehabilitation of the ride.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Disneyland Paris, Space Mountain reopened as Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain in 2017. The attraction remains in this form currently.
