Tiana’s Bayou Adventure seems like it’s off to a ROUGH start!
We’ve been waiting for Disney World’s newest ride to open for over a year, and now that we’ve finally reached the home stretch to its official opening day, we couldn’t be more disheartened. Ever since the planned previews for the ride started, Disney World’s newest attraction has had a hard time staying open throughout the day. And, it doesn’t seem like it’s starting to get any better!
If you’re eagerly awaiting your turn to finally experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom and experience your first plunge down the mountain (and into their swingin’ Mardi Gras celebration), you might find yourself waiting extra long.
Ever since the ride’s testing turned into Cast Member previews with consistent flows of people drifting down the bayou in log ride vehicles, the attraction seems plagued with technical difficulties. The first day of Cast Member previews proved disastrous when the ride had to be evacuated mid-morning, resulting in hoards of disappointed Cast Members and their friends. As the previews continue to keep going, it seems the second day isn’t off to much of a better start.
Day 2 has proven to be an almost mirror experience of the past couple of days of previews with the ride experiencing enough difficulties to shut it down completely for hours. This delay has left crowds scrambling to find open space around the bridge and the queue entrance of the ride and waiting around for hours just on the chance that the ride might reopen for them to experience it, too.
We literally witnessed the line gathered to check in for the event triple when it started in front of the drop, looped back towards the direction of the courtyard in front of Critter Co-Op and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and then switched back to the drop by the bridge and Co-Op once more!
During the time the ride was down, everything appeared to be turned off, including the running water! However, it seems this first closure was shorter-lived, as within around 2 hours we were back to hearing screams down the mountainside once again (sans running water on the drop).
After another 45 minutes from then, the Cast Members in charge of the ride’s preview seemed to be reorganizing the crowds, and the ride was not running once again. It wasn’t too long after that we heard Cast Members operating the ride announcing an evacuation would be taking place to safely remove any remaining riders within the attraction.
We realize this may look problematic for the ride however, we want to reiterate that these previews are when technical issues and bugs are worked out. Cast Members are also trained on evacuations, so this may also be part of that training.
