Tiana’s Bayou Adventure continues to come together in Critter Country at Disneyland Park. Crews have recently been focused on the millhouse, where guests ascend the mountain into the show building.

The mill received new dark brown roof shingles. Scaffolding remains around the building. Temporary planks of wood are on the seams of the roof.

The fascia and soffit at the back of the roof were painted green a few weeks ago.

The wood walls of the building have been repainted or restained. They are now also dark brown.

Fresh green paint is on the front of the mill.

The fascia, soffit, and crossbeams on the front are all seafoam green. The completed attraction will have a banner hanging here, as seen on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom.

Crew members were working on various parts of the façade, adding and adjusting the fake foliage.

A ridge that was just gray concrete a few weeks ago is now covered in green grass.

From this side, we can see that the mill’s roof is not yet complete. Shingles remain to be placed along the edge that runs up against the rockwork.

The weathervane has been installed on the mill, however. It’s located at the front point and has the same design as the one in Florida. These pieces were created by Louisiana master blacksmith Darryl Reeves and his apprentice Karina Roca.

The weathervanes are black with gold letters for north, south, east, and west. The intricate design is inspired by West African symbolism. The top resembles a fern, which represents endurance. It also incorporates a symbol representing the divinity of Mother Earth and the phrase “as above, so below,” alluding to there being more to someone or something than what you see. The bottom of the weathervane is the Sankofa, which symbolizes a bird looking back at its tail, representing looking back on your past and ancestry.
