A new camera for interactive wand spells has been installed in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, and a new tent in Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure may be for the same purpose.

New Spell Camera

The camera is on a staircase to nowhere in the Knockturn Alley section of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. It’s the ring of purple light “hidden” in an artifact on the right side. It also appears that a see-through scrim is covering the stairs. The same kinds of cameras can be seen throughout the land, wherever guests can use interactive wands to trigger a magic spell effect.

New Tent

The tent is up behind the Hogwarts greenhouses in the outdoor queue of Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. The tent is small with thick black and tan stripes.

it’s behind a wrought iron fence, sitting on a mulch bed. There are three wooden crates stacked next to it.

The space doesn’t appear to be finished. Concrete flooring and a lumber base are visible below the tent. Turf may be installed to hide these more industrial elements.

The tent and crates could be props for another new spell.

Rumored New Spells and Interactive Wands

We’ve previously reported on rumors of new spells and interactive wands coming to the Wizarding Worlds. Earlier this year, the infrared cameras were upgraded. In April, the Owl Post window display in Hogsmeade was changed slightly, with new space for a hidden camera.

The rumored new interactive wands are said to connect to the Universal Orlando Resort app, similar to Villain-Con Minion Blast blasters and Super Nintendo World Power-Up bands. The spell updates are rolling out before the opening of Epic Universe, which would have the updates fully incorporated into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. Epic Universe will also have Super Nintendo World and Power-Up bands.

Old interactive wands would reportedly still work with the new spells but wouldn’t connect to the app, which could track achievements.

Universal Orlando sold interactive wands at a 70% discount during last year’s garage sale. For the past several months, they’ve offered a free interactive wand with the purchase of a $300 merchandise gift card. Universal may be trying to get rid of the current stock of wands in anticipation of a new series.
