Free transportation in Disney World comes in many forms…

Disney World’s Skyliner

You can take the iconic Monorail, the uber-popular Skyliner, or a ubiquitous Disney World bus to get around the resort. But one of our favorite methods of transportation is by boat! Recently one of the boat routes in Disney World has been closed because of low water levels. But now, we’ve got a big change to tell you about!

The Sassagoula River Boats run from Old Key West Resort and Saratoga Springs Resort to Disney Springs.

Sassagoula Riverboats

But since late April, the riverboats have been closed because the water level had gotten so low during a dry spring. All that changed this weekend, though…

Heavy rain emptied out Disney’s Hollywood Studios on June 15th.

Extended rain raised the water levels enough for the boats to start running again! This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Sassagoula Riverboats close because of low water levels. When that happens, buses are offered between Old Key West, Saratoga Springs and Disney Springs. Remember you can also walk from Saratoga Springs to Disney Springs, was well!

While this rain was good news for the boats, remember that the Skyliner cannot operate in storms, heavy rain, or high winds — so keep that in mind the next time you’re at Disney World on a rainy day!
