An 11-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was struck by a vehicle near a middle school in Winter Garden on Wednesday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
In a release, troopers said the incident happened as the girl was walking southbound on the sidewalk along Tiny Road, south of Bridgewater Crossings Boulevard.
According to FHP, a 2020 Honda Accord was traveling south on Tiny Road as the girl was walking south along the sidewalk. Investigators said the girl attempted to cross Tiny Road but did not see the Honda.
FHP told News 6 the girl was not in a marked crosswalk when she was struck. Troopers said she was hit by the left side of the car.
