A 19-year-old man from Melbourne was arrested Tuesday in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a teen earlier this year.

Troopers said Aidan Perry was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with the June 21 crash. Isaiah was riding an electric scooter when he was hit, according to FHP. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

A memorial now stands at the site of the crash.

Isaiah’s aunt, Deanna Irizarry, said the arrest brought mixed emotions for her family.

“It’s a lose-lose situation because today doesn’t bring Isaiah back,” she said. “It also is another family ruined.”

During Perry’s court appearance Tuesday, his attorney described him as a young man who had been accepted into the U.S. Coast Guard and was supposed to deploy.

Deanna Irizarry said Isaiah was deeply loved by those who knew him.“Isaiah is the best Isaiah you’ll ever meet,” she said. “He was full of life. He was everyone’s best friend.”

She also said drivers must stop after a crash, no matter the circumstances.

“They have to stop,” she said. “It doesn’t matter if they’re scared.”

A judge set Perry’s bond at $51,000.

He is expected to return to court for arraignment Nov. 17.
