Sept. 17 UPDATE: Two people have been arrested in a drive-by shooting in Ocala where a mother and a five-year-old child were shot.

Police arrested Kentrai Patterson, 28, and Kedonte Davis, 26, in connection with the Sept. 14 shooting on SE 11th Avenue.

Police say Davis drove the vehicle in the shooting and Patterson was a passenger. Patterson is facing charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle, while Davis is facing accessory charges.

The Ocala Police Department is asking for the public’s help after a drive-by shooting left a mother and her young child injured.

The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. Monday near the 1200 block of SE 11th Avenue.

According to a social media post, a family of three — a father, mother, and their 5-year-old child — was traveling south when a vehicle behind them opened fire, striking their car multiple times. Both the mother and child were shot and are listed in stable condition at a local hospital.

Police said they believe the incident was isolated and is not connected to a separate homicide that occurred on Sunday.
