A crash involving a stopped U-Haul and a pump truck sent two people to the hospital and caused hours-long delays on Interstate 4 eastbound near SeaWorld Orlando Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred before 1 a.m. near mile marker 71, at Central Florida Parkway in Orlando.

According to FHP, a 2023 U-Haul was stopped in the center outside lane of I-4 eastbound for unknown reasons when a 2023 pump truck, also traveling in the center outside lane, approached from behind. The pump truck driver swerved left in an attempt to avoid the U-Haul but was unable to stop in time due to the vehicle’s weight.

The front right of the pump truck struck the rear left of the U-Haul, causing the pump truck to overturn onto its left side.

The driver of the U-Haul, a 75-year-old woman from Miami, was transported to the hospital, where a Baker Act was initiated for further evaluation. The pump truck driver, a 26-year-old man from Lakeland, was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

All lanes have reopened.

The crash is still under investigation.
