Another active day of weather is ahead for Central Florida, with widespread afternoon storms expected. Storm chances remain high through the end of the week and into the weekend.
WEDNESDAY
Scattered showers and storms start up as the the east coast sea breeze develops and pushes inland. Storms will likely begin forming near the coast before spreading into the interior. Additional storms could develop later in the day as the sea breeze interacts with the Gulf breeze.
Rain chances will reach 50% to 60% along the coast and 60% to 70% inland.
The strongest storms could produce:
- Frequent lightning
- Wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph
- Torrential rainfall
- Localized flooding
Temperatures will climb into the low to mid-90s, with heat indices between 100 and 105 degrees before storms provide some relief.
LATE WEEK-WEEKEND
Not much changes through the end of the workweek.
A daily sea breeze will help trigger another round of afternoon and evening showers and storms, with rain chances remaining around 50% to 70% each day.
The same storm threats will continue, including lightning, gusty winds and heavy rainfall.
The overall pattern will remain fairly typical for late August, with seasonably hot temperatures, high humidity and daily afternoon storms continuing into next week.
