Buddy the Unicorn from the new horror comedy film Buddy visited opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood — only to be kicked out.

Buddy posted on social media teasing his visit to the horror event but it wasn’t clear if he was a sanctioned character or not.

That is, until he posted a video of him getting kicked off Universal property.

Though Buddy didn’t attempt to enter CityWalk or the theme park — he was greeting guests on a parking garage bridge — Universal management still told him he had to leave and the sheriff’s department was on the way. Buddy said in a caption, “they said no costumes allowed at @horrornights, but i’m a unicorn”.

After being kicked out, Buddy stood on a street corner and pedestrian bridge, holding up signs saying “Security Kicked Me Out!” and “Honk if u <3 Buddy.”

Buddy is an independent film released on August 28 by Roadside Attractions and Saban Films. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2026.

It follows a group of children trapped inside a 1990s-style children’s TV series hosted by the malevolent Buddy. It’s directed by Casper Kelly and stars Cristin Milioti, Delaney Quinn, Patton Oswalt, Clint Howard, Michael Shannon, Topher Grace, and Keegan-Michael Key as the voice of Buddy. Watch a clip below.
