Cocoa Beach police are searching for the identity of a man spotted causing “thousands of dollars in damage” to a local business late at night.

In a release on Tuesday, police said the suspect was caught on surveillance footage around 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 27, violently damaging a statue on the property of Cosmic Tiki, located at 101 N. Atlantic Ave.

“That suspect is facing felony criminal mischief charges,” the release reads. “He was also seen on video ripping up campaign signs that were in the ground in the area.”

Furthermore, police said there was another male with the suspect, who is now a person of interest in the case.

“We believe someone out there will recognize this suspect and provide us the information we need to identify him,” Detective Sgt. David Ortiz said.
