Another wet day is ahead for Central Florida, with heavy rain and localized flooding expected to be the biggest concerns from afternoon storms.

Friday

Weak south winds will start out light before the east coast sea breeze develops and slowly pushes inland. That could lead to a sea breeze collision across the interior Friday afternoon and early evening.

Storms will be capable of 2 to 4 inches of rain in a short period, especially where storms move slowly or repeatedly track over the same areas.

The Weather Prediction Center continues a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall, Level 1 out of 4, through at least Saturday.

Storm coverage will be around 50% to 70%, with the highest chances across the interior.

Temperatures will stay seasonably hot, with highs around 90 to the low 90s and heat indices reaching 100 to 105 degrees.

Holiday weekend

Saturday will bring another round of afternoon storms, with the sea breeze collision occurring closer to the east coast.

Heavy rain remains the main concern, along with gusty winds and lightning. Storms could again produce several inches of rain in a short time, leading to localized flooding.

More rain next week

The wet pattern continues into early next week, with rain chances climbing to around 70% Sunday and 80% Monday before gradually easing Tuesday and Wednesday.

A weakening front moving into the Deep South will help pull additional moisture into Florida early next week.

Temperatures stay seasonable, with highs generally in the upper 80s to low 90s and muggy overnight lows in the 70s.
