The Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort have new character details, furnishings, and more as part of a refurbishment.

Disney confirmed back in March that the treehouses would be refurbished in phases through mid September. They shared a first look at the renovated villas in June, followed by some of the hidden characters in August.

Exterior

The exterior is the same.

There are lights along the path leading to each treehouse and an outdoor grill. Most treehouses have a flight of stairs up to the patio but there is a wheelchair-accessible villa.

There are four chairs, a circular table, and a small bench on the patio. This furniture is the same.

The green front door is also the same but there’s a fresh new Treehouse Villas-branded welcome mat.

Living/Dining Room

The inside of the door is now sage green instead of brown. There’s a new rounded mirror with a shelf on the wall, replacing a square mirror.

In the entrance closet are necessities like a vacuum, iron and ironing board, a luggage rack, extra bedding, and a short ladder.

The entire entry/living/dining space has new woodgrain flooring. Previously, it was split between stone-like tile and leafy green carpet. All the furniture is new, although it generally keeps with the natural color scheme of the villas. That said, the light fixtures and mirrors don’t seem to match.

The new dining furniture is dark brown and looks less like it was carved directly out of a tree. In general, the updated style is still woodsy but leans more California Craftsman.

There are four chairs and a bench around the table. The circular light above is a similar style to the old light but brand-new.

One of the hidden characters in the room is Bruni from Frozen II on the dining room bench.

The curtains, which are throughout the villa, are definitely an improvement. There were previously beige with a splash of color at the bottom. Now they have an all-over natural pattern with hidden Mickeys.

The living room furniture includes a yellow armchair, a green sofa, and two brown leather chairs. Previously, there were just two chairs instead of three. There are some small end tables and a coffee table, as well as an ottoman matching the leather chairs. With the carpet gone, there’s now a green rug under the sofa and coffee table.

Like the dining set, the end tables no longer look as natural. While most of the light fixtures are boring, this table lamp is more fun. The shade with colorful leaves is definitely inspired by “Colors of the Wind,” and the green ceramic base is adorned with a butterfly.

This appears to be based on Rapunzel’s paintings, with the Corona sun hidden on the front.

Art above the leather chairs is definitely based on Tangled, featuring Maximus drinking from a stream in the forest.

The table between the leather chairs houses the Hey Disney console. The lamp here resembles a tree, which is a nice touch. There’s also a ceiling fan and light above.

The coffee table has a checkerboard print, although we don’t think checkers or chess pieces are available anywhere in the room.

The TV unit is the same, with built-in outlets.

The wooden framing of the kitchen is all original, natural wood. The problem with that is it makes the new unnatural wood stand out that much more.

Kitchen

The kitchen island has been completely replaced. Rather than natural wood, it now consists of green paneling, faux wood trim, and marble countertops. Three tall seats sit at the counter on the living room side.

A sculpture of two birds from Cinderella looks down on the kitchen from a beam. They are clearly resin, not wood, but a cute detail nonetheless.

The interior of the island features a dishwasher, sink with garbage disposal, and outlets. The trash can and recycling bin are under the sink. There are dish cleaning supplies, cooking utensils, an ice bucket, and paper towels.

The other half of the kitchen also has new green cabinetry with a full-size Whirlpool fridge, microwave, and oven. All the appliances are brand-new.

There are more outlets on the backsplash.

The dual Keurig machine is especially exciting.

New craftsman-style tiles in the kitchen represent different Disney insects: Ray from The Princess and the Frog, Squeaks from The Fox and the Hound, Evinrude from The Rescuers, Cri-kee from Mulan, and Spike the Bee.

Primary Bedroom

This room looks way better now than it did before. There’s a nice plush carpet with a similar leafy pattern as before.

There wasn’t a whole lot going on behind the beds before. Now the primary bedroom features a mural of Tod and Copper from The Fox and the Hound chasing a butterfly through the woods. This adds a lot to the space.

The throw pillow features birds resembling those in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Though it’s a printed design, there are faux sewn details.

The custom end tables have “hidden” Mickeys across the front. They have built-in USB, USB-C, and two standard outlets. The room phone is on one table. There are light switches for the lamps on the mural and reading lights on the headboard.

There’s space under the bed for luggage storage.

There’s a red floral-patterned chair with a blue throw pillow where there used to be a big dresser unit. There’s also a woodsy coat rack on the wall.

Now there’s a double-wide dresser across from the bed, where there was previously a desk.

The TV is mounted above the dresser. It has built-in outlets, too.

You’ll find the same curtains in here, in front of almost floor-to-ceiling windows.

A mirror is next to the closet and bathroom door; however, it does not doesn’t fit in with thte style. The closet has the safe, luggage rack, extra bedding, and hangers.

Primary Bathroom

One of the biggest glow-ups is the primary bathroom.

This giant shower used to be a shower and tub combo. It is now one large shower, with a window into nature with trees on the frosted glass.

There is no rainfall shower, but there is a wall-mounted shower head and a handheld shower head.

The towel racks used to be inside the shower; they have been relocated to the outside, which is where they belong.

Artwork with flowers from Alice in Wonderland now hangs in the toilet room.

Second Bedroom

This bedroom celebrates Sleeping Beauty. The mural is well framed and matches the room well. Ivan Earl-style square trees and woodland creatures are part of the mural.

Strangely, the pillow has Mary Blair-style Alice in Wonderland leaves.

There are two end tables with marble tops, wood grain bases, and tree branch drawer pulls.

Fox head hooks for hanging coats and other items.

The drawer pulls on the dresser have branch detailing; below the TV are two standard outlets, a USB, and USB-C.

The closet has a crib, a luggage rack, and an extra pillow and blanket.

Kids Bedroom

The kids’ room sleeps up to three and is an improvement over the previous room.

The mural of sleeping raccoons from Disney’s short film Far From the Tree is on the back of the pull-down single sleeper bed. Standard outlets, USB, and USB-C are below the TV.

A tall mural is behind the bunk beds, featuring animals from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Woodland animals from Snow White are also featured on the pillows; Gus Gus from Cinderella is in a mouse hole in the bottom corner of the bedframe.

Second Bathroom

This bathroom used to be very brown and very woodsy, and the renovation is a dramatic change. There are so many great colors that all evoke a treehouse villa, except for the black metal-frame mirror and black unthemed light which don’t fit in.

The tilework is made up of flowers; the room is brighter and has good modern touches with artwork from Bambi.

Final Thoughts

I don’t care for the mirrors, and I don’t care for the lighting fixtures. I was afraid they were going to ruin one of the most special hotel rooms at Disney World; however, this has retained that old Walt Disney World charm while bringing it into modern times. I think they pulled it off, and it has all the charm it had before. It is a really nice refresh that turned out the right way.
