“What’s going on out here?”

A Change.org petition seeks to put a popular Florida influencer into one of the holiday season’s iconic campaigns.

Fans of omgitswicks started the petition to get the social media star into a holiday commercial for Publix. So far, the petition has collected some 4,800 signatures.

OMGItsWicks, aka Josh Robinson, makes Florida-themed comedy videos, highlighting the state’s peculiar weather, wildlife and, of course, Florida men and women. In many of his videos, he’s seen carrying around Publix baked goods or deli items.

“For Floridians like myself, omgitswicks is a cultural figure who embodies the warmth and community spirit that Publix represents. His genuine and relatable content channels the essence of what it means to shop at Publix—where shopping truly is a pleasure,” wrote petition starter Vikki Brook on Change.org.

Robinson has millions of followers across his social media platforms and frequently tours the state with a comedy show.

When News 6’s Ginger Gadsden and Matt Austin interviewed Robinson in 2023, he talked about how an argument over alligators cemented his social media persona and a Florida authority.

“I told them alligators could climb a fence and they told me that they can’t, so I wanted to create a way to show people the stuff that really happens in Florida,” he said.

Robinson has not said much about the petition campaign, but he has put a link on his website.

News 6 reached out to Publix to get the company’s reaction and is waiting to hear back.
