New body-camera video is offering a closer look at the moments officers responded to an attack on an elderly Ormond Beach couple — and the chaotic arrest that followed.
The suspect, 40-year-old Michael Hightower, made his first court appearance and was denied bond. He is accused of attacking the couple, identified as Nancy and Roger Bradley, and later shooting an Ormond Beach police officer at the hospital.
“I find that he is a significant risk of the community and find that no bond is appropriate as to that case as well,” the judge said.
Hightower is facing charges including attempted murder, attempted murder of a police officer and aggravated assault, among others.

According to investigators, the couple spotted a suspicious car in a parking lot at Daytona College Sunday night while responding to a burglary alarm and called 911. Police say Hightower came out, struck Nancy Bradley with his car, then got out and beat both victims.
Body-camera video shows officers arriving at the parking lot to a frantic scene.
“I have two people on the ground bleeding,” an officer is heard saying in the footage.
Officers can then be heard trying to get a response from the victims.
“Hey! Can you hear me? Can you hear me?” an officer says in the video.
A second video released by police shows the arrest of Hightower following the attack. Officers can be heard demanding he stop.
“Hands up! Get on the ground!” an officer shouts in the video.
Police say Hightower fled the scene and officers were forced to chase and tase him to take him into custody.
“Did we get a good search on him?” an officer asks in the footage, as Hightower can be heard making noises in the background.
Hightower was transported to AdventHealth Daytona Beach for evaluation. Police say when Hightower was uncuffed for a CT scan, he began fighting with an officer, grabbed the officer’s weapon from his holster and shot the officer in the leg.

The Bradleys remain in critical condition. The officer who was shot is expected to recover and has been released from the hospital. Hightower remains in the Volusia County Jail.
