We first reported on this building last week. Steel framing and a concrete elevator shaft rose from the site, next to one of Magic Kingdom’s parade warehouses behind Pirates of the Caribbean. At the time, Disney had not announced a project tied to the site. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District’s own records only labeled it the “MK Park 3 Support Building.”
Since then, multiple anonymous sources have reached out with overlapping info on the new building. One source says the building is a parade support facility with rehearsal space, break space, and offices. That source adds that parade costuming will expand into the existing parade rehearsal building next door. This expansion is reportedly much-needed as the parade division outgrew that space years ago. A second source independently describes the new building as a parade center with rehearsal space and offices. This information should be treated as unofficial given the lack of direct confirmation from Disney. That said, it passes the smell test.
Why a New Parade Building Would Make Sense
If accurate, this tracks with what we already know about Magic Kingdom’s parade operations. Our source says the park’s parades outgrew their old rehearsal building years ago. With the return of a nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom last year, I’m sure space is tight. A new dedicated support building would give parade Cast Members break space and offices that better match the breadth of today’s parade lineup.
Disney has not confirmed any of this. The site previously housed Disney Performing Arts, so a parade-focused use would fit its history.
