After Category 2 Hurricane Isaias made landfall in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis is set to hold another news conference on Saturday morning.

DeSantis’ office announced that he will hold the briefing in Tallahassee, flanked by Attorney General James Uthmeier and Florida Division of Emergency Management Executive Director Jared Perdue.

While the conference was originally slated for 11 p.m., DeSantis said he would instead speak on Saturday morning. No details have been provided about the nature of the briefing at this time.

DeSantis has already held several news conferences since he first declared a state of emergency earlier this week, back when Isaias was still just a tropical depression.

Isaias officially made landfall in Florida around 9:30 p.m. Friday near Destin, with wind speeds reaching up to 105 mph.

News 6 will stream the conference live when it happens.

PREVIOUS NEWS CONFERENCE

In a news conference Friday morning, DeSantis said the state has marshaled an extensive array of resources ahead of Hurricane Isaias’ expected landfall, including more than 1,000 generators, half a million gallons of gasoline, 1 million gallons of diesel and more than 1 million bottles of water.

He urged residents — especially those new to the region — to prepare now.

“Make sure you have what you need — gasoline, any prescriptions, nonperishable food, water — to be able to get you through this, particularly [the] 72-hour period,” DeSantis said.

The governor also warned that storm impacts would extend well beyond the coastline, with saturated ground increasing flood risk across Northwest Florida. He added that the Florida National Guard has mobilized 5,000 Guardsmen, and more than 16,000 linemen are pre-positioned for power restoration efforts following the storm.
