It’s no secret that PizzeRizzo pizza was an… acquired…taste. The pizza was either equal to or less than standard quick-service fare at Walt Disney World, which means that we were expecting the same out of Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza – the Monstropolis replacement for the former Muppets-themed eatery. In a press event today, we learned that that’s not going to be the case. When discussing the all-new Monstropolis land opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios next year, we learned that Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza will feature all-new kitchen equipment and an upgraded pizza recipe to produce better pizza.

Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza and the Push for Better Quick Service Pizza
Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza is the quick-service dining location planned for Monstropolis, the new Monsters, Inc. themed land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The restaurant takes over the PizzeRizzo building, the Muppets-themed pizza place it replaces. Disney has not announced an exact opening date for Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza. The company has said Monstropolis will open in phases starting in 2027, which includes Archie’s.
At a press event, the discussion turned to the upcoming pizza offering directly. We learned that the equipment is different, and so is the approach. The result should be much better pizza and a menu that most families will find very approachable.
The all-new equipment is central to the improvement. We learned that chefs are extra focused on getting a properly cooked crust bottom, which then acts as a base for a wonderful pizza. That will be accomplished thanks to the new equipment used to cook the pizza, not just the recipe. The combination of new equipment and a new recipe should produce a better pizza.
We also learned that Cast Members are testing recipes right now for Monstropolis. That includes Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza and Harryhausen’s. Harryhausen’s is said to have a high-quality menu, but no specifics were shared.
