Officially set to open on September 14, The Magic of Disney Animation has actually soft opened today, September 11.
The Magic of Disney Animation Soft Opens
Operating hours are listed on September 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and it appears that Disney may be following those hours today.
Beginning September 14, here are the hours:
- September 14 – 17: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- September 18 – 19: 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- September 20 – 27: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- September 28 – Onward: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
We are in line with other guests as of 8:55 a.m.
The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios includes enchanted artwork, Stitch’s animator office, an Alice in Wonderland playground, meet-and-greets, and much more.
Olaf Draws! will use a virtual queue when it opens, but guests won’t be able to join in the Walt Disney World app. They will have to sign up in person.
However, a virtual queue is not in use during our visit today. We have learned that Cast Members are letting guests physically join the queue and wait.
Inside, Alice from Alice in Wonderland was at the Mary Blair-inspired Drawn to Wonderland playground enjoying a cup of tea with younger guests.

The Magic of Disney Animation was an opening-day attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, back when the park was also home to a Feature Animation studio. This new version of the attraction pays homage to the original.
