After a stretch of unsettled weather, Central Florida is finally getting a chance to dry out. A weak cold front is pushing to our south, and that will bring plenty of sun, lower humidity, and low rain chances.

While we won’t see a significant drop in afternoon temperatures, the difference in humidity should be noticeable. Drier air moving in behind the front will help make temperatures in the mid to upper 80s feel a little more comfortable.

Comfortable mornings to start the week

The lower humidity will also help temperatures fall overnight. Most inland communities will wake up to temperatures in the mid to upper 60s Tuesday morning, while coastal areas will remain closer to 70 degrees.

Tuesday will bring another seasonable day, with highs generally in the mid to upper 80s. Winds will begin shifting off the Atlantic, allowing a little more moisture and cloud cover to return. Most areas will remain dry, although a brief shower or sprinkle can’t be ruled out.

Rain chances increase later this week

Our stretch of mainly dry weather won’t last all week.

As winds continue to blow in from the Atlantic, moisture will gradually increase across Central Florida Wednesday through Friday. Rain chances increase to 30-40% Friday.

The added moisture will also make conditions feel more humid. Afternoon temperatures will continue in the mid to upper 80s, but by Friday, the heat index could approach 100 degrees in communities south of Orlando.

Another cold front arrives this weekend

A second cold front is expected to move into Central Florida Saturday, although it will likely weaken as it approaches.

By Sunday, we could see afternoon highs only in the low 80s.

Beach conditions

Despite the improving weather Monday, beachgoers should remain cautious. There is a moderate risk of dangerous rip currents at Central Florida’s Atlantic beaches.

Anyone heading into the ocean should swim near a lifeguard and never swim alone.
