Strong winds stick around as we head into our Tuesday, with dangerous conditions continuing at area beaches and offshore. While temperatures will stay close to normal, the combination of strong northeast winds, rough surf and unusually high tides will keep coastal hazards a major concern through at least the middle of the week.

Dangerous beach and boating conditions continue

Tuesday will bring another round of hazardous conditions along Central Florida’s beaches, with large breaking waves, a high risk of life-threatening rip currents and the potential for additional coastal flooding.

A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect into Tuesday, with minor to moderate flooding possible around high tide. Saltwater flooding could impact low-lying roads, parking lots, docks and yards near the coast and Intracoastal Waterway.

Pounding waves will also continue to cause moderate to major beach erosion, especially around high tide. Breaking waves could reach 8 to 13 feet, making entering the ocean extremely dangerous.

Conditions offshore will be just as hazardous. Gale Warnings remain in effect for portions of the Atlantic waters, with northeast winds of 20 to 30 knots and gusts reaching 35 knots. Seas of 10 to 15 feet are expected to persist through Wednesday, with the highest waves in the Gulf Stream.

Even as winds gradually ease later in the week, dangerous boating conditions will be slow to improve.

Rain chances increase slightly by midweek

We can expect a mix of sun and clouds Tuesday, along with a few quick-moving showers. Most of us will see relatively limited rain chances, with the best opportunity for showers focused farther south.

Temperatures will remain seasonable, with afternoon highs in the lower 80s.

By Wednesday and Thursday, another surge of moisture will move into the region, bringing a slightly better chance for passing showers across Central Florida. Rainfall will remain scattered, so not everyone will get wet.

Breezy conditions will continue through the second half of the workweek, with highs climbing into the lower to middle 80s. Overnight temperatures will also remain mild, generally in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Halloween forecast looking good for trick-or-treaters

There is some good news if you’re making Halloween plans. While we may have a little extra humidity in the air Saturday, the overall forecast looks favorable for trick-or-treating.

Afternoon temperatures will reach the lower to middle 80s before dropping into the 70s during the evening hours. It may feel a little muggy for late October, but temperatures should be comfortable enough for costumes and neighborhood walks.

Don’t forget to fall back this weekend

Daylight Saving Time comes to an end early Sunday morning, November 1.

Clocks will move back one hour at 2 a.m., giving us an extra hour of sleep.

The trade-off? Sunsets will arrive an hour earlier on the clock beginning Sunday evening, so get ready for those earlier sunsets as we head into November.
