A new permit has been filed for the upcoming Indiana Jones & The Myth of the Jade Serpent ride, currently under construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom as part of its new Tropical Americas land.
New Construction Permit Filed for Indiana Jones Ride

The notice of commencement was filed the afternoon of September 11, 2026, in Orange County. The property noted in the permit is 501 Restaurantosaurus Road, which is the official address of the former DINOSAUR attraction being converted into the upcoming Indiana Jones ride.

The permit contracts Buena Vista Construction Company, Disney’s in-house subsidiary for Walt Disney World construction, to “provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.” It was also filed by Walt Disney World Resort, not specifically Imagineering, so this points to general construction work not necessarily related to theming. Disney extended permits for both construction and theming work on the ride back in July.

The colorful Mayan temple facade of the attraction has already started being installed in pieces, as revealed in shots taken by aerial photographer bioreconstruct.

At D23 2026, we got a first look at the temple design with this miniature ride model. So far, the new facade pieces match the design of the model.

The new Animal Kingdom attraction with an original story will send guests into a mysterious Maya temple near a once-water-filled underground cave. According to local legend within the attraction’s story, the passage leads to the Maya Underworld and is protected by the imposing Tsukán, who will appear as an imposing audio-animatronic. Harrison Ford will also serve as the model for the Indiana Jones Audio-Animatronics figure, marking the first time his likeness as the character has appeared in a Disney Parks attraction.

The Indiana Jones ride and the rest of the Tropical Americas land were scheduled to open in 2027, but that timeline was recently removed from the official Disney World website. Check out all our Tropical Americas construction updates.
