After Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed to become Monstropolis, its old entrance columns were demolished. New entrance columns were constructed — then knocked down a few weeks later. Another group of new columns are now being installed.

Monstropolis Construction

The four pillars stand a few feet above the construction walls. Right now, they only consist of rebar and concrete forms. Like the former columns, the two on the outside are shorter than the two on the inside.

When the previous four columns were being constructed, we noted a design change from the Monstropolis concept art. The entryway was at an angle rather than parallel to the Grand Avenue walkway. It’s hard to tell from the ground what angle these new columns sit at but they seem very similarly positioned as the ones they just tore down.

The Glob Clock Tower

The clock face atop the former MuppetVision 3D clock tower now has plastic taped over it. The brickwork around the clock was redone and now needs to be repainted. Covering the clock indicates that painting will start soon.

On the wall next to the clock tower, we noticed several different paint styles on the brick walls. These could be tests to determine the final design for the building.
