Disney announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event that the original Parisian Space Mountain, inspired by Jules Verne’s From the Earth to the Moon, would be restored, including the Columbiad Cannon.
Disneyland Paris describes the attraction’s return as a “definitive milestone in a new phase of the ‘New Magic’ initiative recently launched at Disneyland Paris.”
“This ambitious program,” Disneyland Paris says, “aims at improving the guest experience and refreshing its classic attractions to surprise and delight all generations of guests.”
Another recent “New Magic” project was the enhanced scenery on Rivers of the Far West inspired by Marc Davis sketches.
The initiative is driven by the Walt Disney Imagineering Paris team. Several other projects are in development and will be unveiled in phases.
