Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights returns with 10 haunted houses spanning rock legends, cult horror classics, dystopian nightmares — and a few surprises.
Each house was ranked by three criteria: creativity, scares and overall memorability.
Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned HHN veteran, here’s how every house stacks up.
10. INVASION: Alien Abduction
Invasion: Alien Abduction marks the first time Halloween Horror Nights has tackled a traditional alien invasion in a haunted house — and the facade alone sets the tone.
A Southwest American homestead under siege, complete with a goat caught in an alien tractor beam, makes for an early standout moment. The aliens themselves put a terrifying spin on the familiar, sporting razor-sharp teeth and extra-long claws. Sensory effects, including a room that makes the house feel like it’s vibrating, add to the immersion.
Fun and creative, but ultimately the least memorable storyline of the lineup.
9. Stranger Things 5
Stranger Things 5 at Halloween Horror Nights was practically inevitable. With four previous houses spanning every season, a final chapter celebrating the last battle with Vecna was a foregone conclusion.
The house does a commendable job hitting key moments — Will’s sorcery awakening, the eerie Upside Down and a relentless wave of Demogorgon sightings and Vecna jump scares. One scene-stealing highlight is the inclusion of Derek Turnbow — the foul-mouthed fan favorite whose famous line “Suck my fat one!” gets its own dedicated moment.
But the house still carries the same weight as the season itself: the least memorable chapter of an otherwise iconic series.
Fans will appreciate the nostalgia and the send-off, but Stranger Things 5 feels like a fitting, if slightly underwhelming, farewell.
8. Sinners
Sinners is one of the most anticipated houses at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights — and it shows.
The house picks up right where the film’s tension peaks, as blues player Sammie Moore breaks the veil and Remmick closes in.
Music is woven throughout, with the juke joint atmosphere pulling guests into that signature blend of rhythm and dread as vampires grow stronger with every step. Keep your eyes peeled for the moment Remmick takes flight.
The film is a cinematic experience, no question. But for die-hard fans of the film’s iconic soundtrack, the musical moments may leave you wanting just a little more.
7. MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals
Madlands: Caged Cannibals is pure punk rock chaos — think Mad Max meets a defunct zoo.
A post-apocalyptic zoo is overrun by rival cannibal factions — and it’s a sensory assault from start to finish.

6. Cybergoria
Cybergoria lives up to its name — and it does not skimp on the gore.
Set in a dystopian future, robots have figured out a grim path to immortality: harvesting human flesh, tissue and organs and connecting them to their own mechanical bodies. The result is an onslaught of “flesh bots”.
One standout moment features a curtain that pushes guests directly into a scareactor’s path, catching even the most seasoned horror fans completely off guard. You can argue it’s the scariest house in the lineup and one of the smelliest.
5. Evil Dead Burn
Evil Dead Burn is my sleeper hit of the lineup.
Based on the latest installment in the classic horror franchise, Universal worked closely with the film’s creators — even building the house off the script as the movie was still being shot.
The house follows the Price family through an increasingly scorching environment, with heat, smoke, and charred practical effects making the horror feel viscerally real.
Deadites show no mercy — and neither does the house’s most terrifying resident: a glowing-eyed Deadite dog that barks and haunts you long after you exit.
4. Hellraiser
Hellraiser at Halloween Horror Nights has been a “white whale” for Universal — and after 40 years, Pinhead finally arrives.
The moment guests walk into the Lament Configuration puzzle box, they’re pulled into a dark, labyrinthine world where Cenobites blur the line between pleasure and pain.
Spanning the first three films, it’s the longest house in the lineup — and that trapped, inescapable feeling is entirely intentional.
Filmmaker Clive Barker himself proved penmanship isn’t dead, hand-writing a letter of praise to Universal’s creative team.
3. HR Bloodengutz: A Halloween Fright-Tacular
This sequel house to its 2011 predecessor is one of the campiest, most entertaining experiences in the Halloween Horror Nights lineup.
The house follows Larry Kurtzberg, a struggling actor-turned-creature-feature host who snapped on live television 15 years ago — and has just broken out of Carey State Penitentiary to host one final Halloween movie marathon at Channel 21.
Planted TVs announce each sequence throughout the house, a clever touch that keeps the campy energy alive around every corner.
One standout moment — a sequence featuring the unforgettable Dr. Pumpkin Spice — is anything but basic.
This is also the only house in the lineup featuring a GAT, or Guest Activated Trigger. Spot a small table with a red button during the first Bloodengutz encounter and hit it.
If you enjoyed the Slaughter Cinema houses of the past, HR Bloodengutz will not disappoint.
2. Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control
Haunted house or fun house? At Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, it’s both.
The marquee house of Halloween Horror Nights 35 is a feast of color, with some of the best sound design in the entire lineup. A psychedelic tunnel pulls guests into Dr. Oddfellow’s twisted “Oddverse” — a dimension few could have imagined.
Doing a little research on the rivals’ years-long history before entering pays off. The backstory runs deep.
“They finally realized that they might actually be two sides of the same evil coin,” one insider said of the duo’s dynamic.
The finale brings the rivals together atop Oddfellow’s Cane of Souls skull, his source of power — and guests are the unlucky ones caught in the middle.
1. Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness
The Prince of Darkness is the king of Halloween Horror Nights 35.
The house is one big vibe, taking guests through Ozzy’s iconic solo eras and gothic imagery — highlighted by a wild, unforgettable Crazy Train sequence.
A projection scene tells the doomed story of an oversized bat and a human — a clever twist on one of the rock icon’s most infamous career moments.
Near the finale, guests come face-to-face with Ozzy himself, seated on his throne. Before exiting, look up — one last surprise awaits beneath the winged icon.
