The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that shut down southbound lanes of U.S. 1 in Cocoa early Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Olsen Road in Brevard County.

According to an FHP report, the crash involved a 2024 Ford F-150 and a pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the pedestrian has not been released.

A roadblock remains in place for southbound lanes of U.S. 1. Drivers in the area are urged to seek alternate routes.

The crash remains under investigation.
