A robust tropical wave rolled off of Africa earlier Monday. With the invest designation by the National Hurricane Center, specialized tropical models were initialized on the disturbance.

The first grouping of models from Monday evening show west-northwest movement toward the Central Atlantic.

Longer range guidance then breaks the future of 96 L into two camps. A weaker storm that skirts the Caribbean islands and a stronger storm that curve outs to sea.

Either way, for Florida and the U.S., a different weather system should be exiting the east coast to help guide the storm out to sea.

Still, this is far out into the future.

The system should only gradually materialize in the early-going as dry air and a stable atmosphere keep organization in check.

If the system survives and ends up in between Puerto Rico and Bermuda the storm will have a chance to strengthen.

Currently the National Hurricane Center gives this disturbance a 60% chance to develop over the next seven days.

Another disturbance Invest 95 L is hanging out near Bermuda. This entity has 50% chance for development over the next 7 days. The window will likely close quickly for this disturbance as it gets absorbed by another weather system moving off of the Northeast U.S.

The next named storm of the 2026 hurricane season is Dolly.
