Gatto is the upcoming Pixar animated comedy film scheduled for theatrical release in March 2027, and new artwork was revealed at D23.

The artwork has Nero, the cat in several different scenes around Italy.

Gatto is in theaters on March 5, 2027. Originally, it was due to premiere in theaters on June 18, 2027.

For the film, Luca director Enrico Casarosa and producer Andrea Warren will bring viewers back to Casarosa’s home country of Italy, where Luca also took place.

Nero, voiced by Mark Ruffalo, wants to leave behind his life of mischief but must complete one last job by stealing a violin. Things go wrong when he forms a relationship with the violin’s owner, Maya. The two have a lot in common, including a love of opera.

The movie utilizes brushstroke effects on the characters. 2D-inspired events like watercolor are being used with reflectors on the water. It’s described as “like walking into a painting.” This is a first for Pixar.
