Breezy northeast winds, heavy downpours, and dangerous beach conditions remain in the forecast for Central Florida. King tides are adding to the risk of coastal flooding and beach erosion, while scattered showers make a comeback.

Wet & windy days

Northeast winds will stay breezy today, with sustained speeds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts reaching 30 to 35 mph. Rain chances range from 40% to 70%, with a few storms possible. Any storms that develop could produce heavy downpours and wind gusts up to 45 mph.

Showers will move from northeast to southwest, and repeated rounds of rain could lead to minor, localized flooding, especially near the coast. Rain chances remain elevated Thursday before trending lower Friday.

Coastal hazards continue

Beach conditions remain dangerous along the entire East Central Florida coast. Breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet, strong rip currents and ongoing king tides are contributing to additional beach erosion.

A High Surf Advisory and Coastal Flood Warning remain in effect. Even though high water levels may be slightly lower than yesterday, similar impacts are expected, especially around high tide.

Halloween weekend outlook

Northeast winds and rough seas should gradually ease later this week, with some improvement possible by Friday. However, hazardous surf and rip currents will remain concerns.

Scattered rain chances continue through the week and into the weekend as temperatures will stay seasonable with afternoon highs in the 80s.

Temperatures should be in the mid-70s by trick-or-treat time, and we’re expecting mostly dry weather.
