Parts of Brevard County are dealing with flooding and damage after heavy rain pushed through the area Thursday.
In West Melbourne, a partial roof collapse occurred at the BK Technologies facility, located at 7100 Technology Drive. According to police, no injuries were reported in the incident, where rain may have caused part of the roof to cave in.
Employees returned to the property Friday, where signs on the doors advised the building was unsafe for occupancy. Officials have not said how long the BK Technologies building would remain closed due to the roof damage, although employees said work would be underway to reopen a portion of the facility.
Late Thursday, the National Weather Service reported more than 4 inches of rain at Orlando Melbourne International Airport, which is just east of the BK Technologies building. The NWS in Melbourne also issued a flash flood advisory that remained in place through Thursday night.
In Palm Bay, around a foot of water flooded several sections of the Woodlake Village Apartments. Portions of U.S. 192 were also temporarily blocked due to flooding, and authorities reported at least 1 to 2 feet of water at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Lemon Grove Avenue.
Rain is expected to continue in spots over the weekend as gulf moisture moves through the area.
