A Lakeland woman is dead, and a 9-year-old girl was injured in a fiery crash on Interstate 4 in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound I-4 exit ramp near Daryl Carter Parkway at mile marker 70.

According to an FHP report, a 44-year-old Lakeland woman was in a Honda Accord on I-4 approaching the exit for Daryl Carter Parkway when they believe she had a medical episode. That’s when the car ended up in the median, then kept moving through the intersection, hit a curb, then a concrete barrier, and caught on fire.

Troopers said the driver died, and a 9-year-old passenger was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly before the crash on Daryl Carter Parkway, the woman was involved in a separate crash on I-4, troopers said. That crash happened near mile marker 69 and involved a 23-year-old from Tennessee.

That person was not hurt and stayed at the scene, state troopers say.

Both crashes are under investigation
