More scaffolding and some gray paint have been added to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as the attraction continues to undergo exterior refurbishment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Tower of Terror Refurbishment Update

On September 2, we noticed that scaffolding is now encroaching on the corner to the right of the tower shaft.

Scaffolding was extended above “The Hollywood Tower Hotel” sign on August 22, as we previously reported. Now, most of the facade above the sign is covered with scaffolding.

Meanwhile, scaffolding has also been raised on the right side of the building to continue the refurbishment process.

Crews began installing scaffolding on the far right of the facade above the gift shop in early July. However, refurbishment began in the outdoor queue in early May. Later that month, flags came down from the gift shop exit, and scrim covered some facade details.

In addition to the new scaffolding, we also noticed that the gray painting work on the balcony and the chimney stack is more prominent. See the paint photos below.

Earlier this month, crews began repainting parts of the facade above the gift shop.

Despite the exterior refurbishment, the ride remains open. Gaps in the scaffolding for the ride’s windows mean guest views during the attraction are not obscured.
