NASA is targeting no earlier than Sept. 12 for the launch of its SpaceX Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station, mission managers confirmed Monday during a briefing at Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The Crew-13 mission will carry four crew members to the orbiting laboratory: NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov.

Once aboard the station, the crew will conduct research aimed at fighting heart disease and Parkinson’s disease using human stem cell-derived tissues, study crop production for long-duration spaceflight, and test new diagnostic medical equipment.

Dragon Grace was recently stacked on its trunk, and a crew test drive inside the spacecraft is scheduled for Friday. The Falcon 9 booster, making its third flight, will undergo a two-week maintenance period beginning this month.

Watkins will become the first NASA astronaut to launch aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft twice. Delaney, Kutryk, and Teteryatnikov will each make their first trip to space, becoming the 296th, 297th, and 298th visitors to the station.
