Magic Kingdom is opening a brand new Cars Land, and we finally have more details!

We just got a detailed, up-close look of the new ride coming to Piston Peak National Park!
If you haven’t heard the news, get excited because Cars Land is coming to life in Magic Kingdom! The brand-new area will bring two new attractions to the Disney theme park as the Cars are leaving Radiator Springs to explore the West and head into new Frontiers.

The first of the two new attractions will take you racing through the mountains on wild terrain along mountain trails as you dodge geysers and splash through mud holes. We just got a MAJOR first look at this ride during D23, and we got a close-up look of the cars we’ll be riding!
It’s Lightning and Mater!
The ride vehicles will include at least three cars, each with their own personalities and voices as you go through the ride!

Each of the cars features detailed headlight eyes and mouths, just like in the Cars movies!

We also got a close-up of the back of a ride vehicle. So cool!
The side
There’s also new concept art of the ride itself, featuring a muddy car from the trail entering a dark cave. Are you a little bit scared too? Additionally, this concept art only portrays one track, and the ride was originally announced as a race-style attraction. Rumors were circulating at the start of D23 weekend that the ride was no longer a race, but Disney hasn’t yet confirmed or denied it. It’s possible our cars could split up on the race to the finish line!

The second ride will be geared towards “smaller racers” according to Disney, although they haven’t shared much more regarding the second attraction.

The new area will be replacing the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle Riverboat. This has led to many fans feeling torn about the new area, but Disney has already been working on the permit process for a while so it seems like there’s no going back now. Disney has also shared more concept art of the ride vehicles coming to the new land which you can see here.

We’ve even gotten a behind-the-scenes look into how they’re testing the new Cars attraction before even building it on a test track in Orlando, FL. You can see the video here! Construction in Magic Kingdom for this area is expected to begin in 2025.

Cars Land isn’t the only major expansion coming to Magic Kingdom! Disney is also bringing our favorite baddies to life with the brand-new Villains Land. This new expansion will be located behind Big Thunder Mountain and will also bring 2 new attractions to the park.
