Orange County Fire Rescue is asking a social media influencer to release the full, unedited version of a viral video recorded at Fire Station 54 on Sept. 11, after the edited clip drew backlash against two firefighters and preceded a bomb threat at the station days later.

The video shows an influencer who goes by “@theyyycallmelou” online walking up to Orange County Fire Station 54 with flowers. In the edited clip, the influencer approaches two firefighters, and one of them is later seen asking the influencer to leave before closing the station doors.

The clip has since drawn thousands of comments, many critical of the firefighters’ response. At least one person also left a one-star Google review for the station.

Orange County Fire Rescue said in a Facebook statement that the content creator is known to visit firehouses to create “awkward” videos of firefighters and “intentionally embarrass Orange County personnel.”

According to the department, the videos are secretly recorded using a hidden camera in the influencer’s eyeglasses.

The influencer describes the style of videos as “joy baiting,” in which he approaches strangers and whistles songs for them. In another video recorded at a different Orange County fire station the same day, the influencer is seen offering flowers and whistling the entire national anthem while a firefighter stands by and waits for him to finish.

Days after the Station 54 video went viral, a bomb threat was called in to the fire station Monday night. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed any connection between the threat and the viral video.

Orange County Fire Rescue declined an interview but said it wants the influencer to provide the entire unedited video from the Station 54 interaction.

News 6 reached out to the influencer for an interview. He initially responded and asked for details, but did not agree to an interview or respond to a follow-up call through TikTok.

If the influencer responds or releases the full video, News 6 will provide an update.
