A 68-year-old Daytona Beach man was killed after being struck by an SUV, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred around 7 a.m. Friday. A 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport was traveling westbound in the outside lane of International Speedway Boulevard when the pedestrian entered the road near General Custer Avenue, walking northbound, according to an FHP report.
The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk and walked into the direct path of the vehicle. The front of the SUV struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
The driver, a 48-year-old woman from Ormond Beach, was not injured and remained at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
