We know you’ve heard it before: Disney World is currently undergoing a TON of construction. There are tons of big projects you’re probably already familiar with, like Piston Peak or Monstropolis, but you can’t forget about the smaller projects and refurbishment plans that can affect your Disney World trip a lot sooner than you think.

We’re always looking for major Disney announcements, but sometimes you have to look a little closer than the formal releases. Permits are a great way to see what Disney is working on behind the scenes, and they published almost twenty new construction permits recently. Ready to see what changes could be coming to Disney World soon?

Shockingly, most of these permits have nothing to do with the four main theme parks. Most are happening in Disney Springs, the shopping district where we get our fair share of snacks, meals, Mickey ears, and anything else you could want from your vacation.

Currently, Disney has filed permits for “General Construction” at the following locations in Disney Springs:

• Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar
• Crystal Art
• Marketplace Snacks
• Rainforest Cafe
• Art of Disney
• Wonderful World of Memories
• Spice and Tea Exchange
• Earl of Sandwich
• Disney’s Day of Christmas
• Pin Traders
• Once Upon a Toy
• Basin

Unfortunately, Disney has not yet released any additional information beyond that all of these locations will be undergoing general construction in the future. However, many of these spots are in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs, so this area may be getting a general refurbishment in the future. We’ll be keeping an eye out to see if any closures or changes are announced soon.

But Disney Springs is not the only Disney World spot with some permits on the horizon. There are also two new permits over in Magic Kingdom, specifically at Pirates of the Caribbean.

Disney just released two permits for “labor, material, and/or electrical for construction,” which means we can most likely expect some construction or refurbishment happening at this attraction in the future. The first of the permits was for the queue and facade of the attraction, but the second was for the actual building. Disney has not yet announced any closures for Pirates of the Caribbean, but it’s possible these permits are a hint that we can expect a closure at some point in the future.

There were also a few new permits for some locations across the other parks. Starting with Hollywood Studios, a permit has been filed for Electrical Work at Theater of the Stars. This is the theater that is the home of Beauty and the Beast – Live On Stage.

Lastly, two new permits have been filed for Animal Kingdom. First, for Electrical Work over at the Gorilla Building. Then, of course, we couldn’t escape a permit update, with at least one permit for one of the big projects. There was a permit filed for General Construction at the former Restaurantosaurus in the new Tropical Americas area. It is possible that this construction will include taking this building down or beginning the process of transforming it for the new land.
