If you’re hoping for a break from the rain, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Afternoon storms are back this weekend, with another wetter stretch ahead next week. Here’s what to know.
Friday
The best chance for scattered to numerous showers and storms will come between noon and Friday night.
A few stronger storms are possible, bringing frequent lightning, wind gusts of 35–45 mph and torrential downpours. Some areas could pick up 2–4 inches of rain in just an hour, which could lead to minor flooding of low-lying areas and roadways.
It will also be hot and humid, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and heat indices reaching 100–105 degrees.
Weekend
The storm pattern continues Saturday and Sunday as a weak front remains stationary to the north.
Scattered to numerous showers and storms are expected each afternoon, with the best chance between 2 PM and 7 PM.
Temperatures remain hot, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and heat indices approaching 100 to 105 degrees.
Wetter pattern next week
The biggest change arrives Monday into Tuesday as a cold front moves into Central Florida and begins to stall.
That boundary could linger across the area through midweek, keeping rain chances high each day. Rain chances are currently forecast between 70% and 90% Monday through Thursday.
With slow-moving and potentially training storms, heavy rainfall and flooding could become the biggest concern next week, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Temperatures will depend heavily on where the front settles. Cooler temperatures are possible behind the front beginning Tuesday and continuing into midweek.
