Guests can now see a rare albino wallaby joey at Jumping Junction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Baby Wallaby Quartz

Named Quartz, this joey is all white with reddish eyes. Albinism is recessive, so Quartz must have inherited the condition from both her parents. The condition means she has little to no melanin, giving her almost no color.
It looks like she’s sticking close to her mom right now. Disney did not share how old Quartz is, but wallabies spend most of their early life in their mom’s pouch, permanently leaving around 8 to 9 months. But they can stay with their mom for up to 2 years.
Albinism can result in abnormal eye development and potentially a lower survival rate, but with the animal care team at Walt Disney World, Quartz will be well cared for.
Jumping Junction is a walkthrough exhibit of kangaroos and wallabies at Conservation Station. It replaced Affection Section with the debut of Bluey’s Wild World.
