Election workers across Central Florida are preparing for a busy two-week stretch as early voting for the general election begins Monday.

In Seminole County, Supervisor of Elections Amy Pennock said she expects most voters to cast their ballots during the early voting period, which runs Oct. 19 through Nov. 1.

“We’re about half of what we were in the 2024 election for vote-by-mail requests,” Pennock said. “We saw a rise in early voting during the primary. We expect that in the general.”

Seminole County resident Robert Celli dropped off his vote-by-mail ballot ahead of the early voting period.

“I just feel it’s extremely important,” Celli said. “Let’s vote for the people that can help the most amount of people.”

High-profile political races are generating interest in the election, including the race for Florida governor, a U.S. Senate seat and congressional races.

State constitutional amendments are also on the ballot, including Amendment 3, which would provide a new homestead exemption for non-school taxes for Florida residents.

Celli said he was conflicted on the issue but decided to vote in favor of the measure.

“I think there’s good and bad to it. We took the path of probably lowering the homestead exemption,” Celli said. “The best thing that (municipalities) can do, if it does pass, is look at their operations. I’d hate to use the word tighten the belt a little bit, but see if they can.”

Early voting in Seminole County is held at seven locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through the two weeks.
