A surfer off New Smyrna Beach was bitten by a shark Wednesday.

Volusia County Beach Safety says the male surfer was in the water at around 11 a.m.

When they arrived, they said the surfer was getting bandaged for an injury to his right foot.

Beach Safety says the male refused any medical care and left the beach.
