An unsettled weather pattern remains over Central Florida for the holiday weekend, meaning showers and storms are likely each day for Labor Day weekend. With that being said, while rain chances are high, it will not be a washout of a weekend. Beach and pool plans will still be a go, there just needs to be strategic planning!

Saturday

We will start off the day dry with a mix of sun and clouds. This will allow temperatures to climb into the low 90s by lunchtime. This is when we start to see some spotty showers, and a thunderstorm or two, begin to develop. These storms will favor areas around I-4 for the early afternoon. Scattered storms will continue to fan across Central Florida throughout the afternoon. These storms will calm down around 7-8pm.

Sunday

Sunday will be the tale of when sea breezes collide. The west and east coast sea breeze knifing inland will be the story of the afternoon. We will start off mostly dry with a mix of sun and clouds. The west and east coast sea breeze will begin to develop around 1-2pm, favoring the 95 and 75 corridors. The two sea breezes will push inland and meet over I-4 late-afternoon, around 4-5pm. Thunderstorms will blow up along the Orlando metro and I-4 corridor into the early evening. Storms will begin to fade around 9pm. Highs will hit the low 90s with “feels like” temperatures in the 100-105ºF range.

Monday

Labor Day itself will be the wettest day of the holiday weekend as a trough of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere brings a cold front into Northern Florida. This will add moisture and instability to develop a plethora of storms throughout the day. As we wake up Monday morning, scattered showers will be over our norther counties, especially Flagler, Marion, and Northern Volusia. Rain chances continue to spill southward by lunchtime and linger across Central Florida through the afternoon.
