Our summerlike weather pattern isn’t going anywhere just yet.

Deep moisture remains in place, keeping rain chances elevated through the weekend. The rain chance remains at 70% each day through Sunday before gradually dropping to around 40% next week.

Thursday will start warm and muggy, with only a few showers possible early, especially closer to the coast. By early afternoon, both sea breezes will begin moving inland and scattered showers and storms will quickly develop.

The east coast sea will track inland during the early afternoon, with storms developing just inland from the coast around 2:00 this afternoon. Both sea breezes move toward the interior through the afternoon and early evening.

A sea breeze collision is expected near the I-4 corridor around afternoon drive time. That collision should help produce another round of thunderstorms across the Orlando metro and surrounding communities.

With plenty of moisture in the atmosphere and relatively light winds, storms will be move slowly. That means locally heavy rain will be the main concern. Some areas could pick up a few inches of rain in a short period of time, leading to ponding on roads and localized flooding.

A few stronger storms are also possible, with wind gusts approaching 50 mph.

Afternoon highs will climb into the lower 90s, but high humidity will push the heat index into the 102 to 107 degree range.

The same general pattern continues Friday through Sunday. Expect hot, humid mornings followed by scattered to numerous afternoon storms as the sea breezes move inland and collide. Slow storm movement will continue to make locally heavy rainfall possible, especially in areas that see more than one round of rain.

As we head into next week, rain chances gradually go down.
