A Tuskawilla Middle School teacher is on administrative leave accused of dragging a 7th-grade student out of her classroom by his arm, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said.

Fada Isabel Concepcion, 52, who teaches 7th-grade science, was arrested Tuesday.

According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the incident occurred Wednesday during third period. School administrators reviewed surveillance footage from the school’s camera system, which deputies say showed Concepcion dragging the student out of the classroom and into the hallway — a distance of at least 20 feet.

When investigators interviewed Concepcion, she said she had no recollection of dragging the student but claimed she had “escorted him out” while he repeatedly slumped over. When asked to explain the video, she said she could not.

The student confirmed to investigators that he had been dragged and expressed concern he would be in trouble with his father. His parent later met with school officials and deputies, completed a sworn statement and indicated he did not give permission for the teacher to touch his child and wished to pursue the matter, the arrest report states.

Seminole County Public Schools released a statement on the arrest.

“We take all allegations involving our students’ safety and well-being seriously and will respond quickly,” the district said. “This teacher is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement and the Office of Professional Standards in accordance with district policies and procedures.”
