Over the years, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has become one of Walt Disney World’s most beloved traditions. The event’s offerings of candy, treats, Halloween-themed characters, special entertainment, decorations, and the rare ability for an adult to wear a costume in the Magic Kingdom have become annual favorites of many guests, and you can bet those guests are already planning their next party.

Part of that planning? Choosing the right Disney World Hotel to stay at on their Not-So-Scary night!

Magic Kingdom Hotels

Let’s start with the most obvious hotels to stay at when attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: those in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area:

• Disney’s Contemporary Resort
• Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
• Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Each of these three resorts is on the Disney World Resort Monorail loop, each about five minutes from the Magic Kingdom, making them ideal to get to the party after putting the finishing touches on one’s costume, and (more importantly) a quick 5-minute trip back to the hotel when the party ends at midnight. Compare that to the 20+ minute bus ride from the park back to most of Disney World’s other hotels, which may or may not have multiple stops, and then you’re not getting back to your room until 2 AM.

In addition, each of these hotels belongs to Disney’s Deluxe Tier Resort category, meaning a stay at any of them includes perks like Early Entry AND Extended Evening Hours. Of course, that Deluxe Tier comes with a Deluxe price tag, but if those hotels are out of your price range, don’t worry, we have another suggestion that will keep you close to the Magic Kingdom.

Fort Wilderness Campground

Fort Wilderness is located in the Magic Kingdom area of the Disney World Resort (which is MASSIVE), but doesn’t have access to the Monorail. However, you can take a bus or boat to Magic Kingdom in under 15 minutes! At this spot, you can choose to stay in the cabins, which are the more expensive option, or you can bring your own tent and/or RV and camp the old-fashioned way! While the cabins are a few hundred dollars per night, campsites can sometimes be under $100 per night, depending on when you book! For those who already own an RV or have some tents they plan to stake down, that’s a pretty great deal, helping you save some serious money on your trip! A campsite definitely won’t be as cushy as staying in a hotel room, but to some people, saving hundreds of dollars a night while enjoying Mickey’s Not-So-Scary is totally worth that. Plus, the campground has some Halloween traditions of its own.

Okay, so Disney’s Pop Century Resort does sacrifice the proximity to the Magic Kingdom and the inherent transportation advantage. However, if you’re willing to sacrifice that to pay under $200 a night without camping at Fort Wilderness, the Value Tier Resort may be the place for you.
